Impressive day 2 of racing in Stavanger


World cup #2 in long track speed skating continued today in Stavanger as the skaters battled in the 500m (2) and the 1500m.

Nao Kodaira started her day like she did yesterday with a strong 500m victory. She skated a fast 37,07. Angelina Golikova from Russia and Sang-Hwa Lee from South Korea were close but had to settle for second and third positions. Dutch star sprinter Ronald Mulder won the 500m (2) by 0,03 seconds on Japan's Daichi Yamanaka. Hein Otterspeer continued his good 500m weekend adding a bronze medal today in the second 500m to the silver medal he got yesterday on the first one.

Japanese skaters are on fire so far this season! Miho Takagi was victorious in the ladies 1500m. Heather Bergsma from the USA and Lotte van Beek from the Netherlands completed the podium. Norwegian long distances specialist Sverre Lunde Pedersen was the fastest in the 1500m in front of his home crowd. Joey Mantia finished in second place, really close in time with the winner. Mantia started his season well with good results in the distances he took part in. «Good place to be as we get closer to the Olympics» wrote the american on Instagram after winning his silver medal today. Another Norwegian stepped on the podium as Sindre Henriksen got the bronze medal. Norwegian crowd can be happy with their local skaters performances since the start of the competition.

This World cup event will end tomorrow with the long distances and the team sprint.
